Dear Second Life® Merchant,

You are cordially invited to the Second Pride Winter Solstice Ball on Saturday, December 19, 2009 at 12PM and/or 6PM.

Our Winter Solstice Ball is both an information session and a business social. At 12PM & 6PM SLT, the Second Pride team will discuss their initiatives in Second Life and the direction for the new Rainbow Merchants program. This will be followed by a Q&A and then a spectacular winter dance from 1-3PM and 7-9PM. Here is your chance to meet other merchants who are joining the Rainbow Merchants program in support of Second Pride.

Formal attire requested but not mandatory.

What is a Rainbow Merchant?

The Rainbow Merchants group is an affiliate program of Second Pride whose purpose is to support the LGBT community of Second Life. Rainbow Merchants provide products or services that promote the objectives of Second Pride, namely:

• Ethical fundraising for RL charities

• An Annual Festival for the SL LGBT community

• The establishment of an LGBT portal for Second Life

• A Gay and Lesbian HealthServ initiative

• Organized calendar activities and events

As a customer, what can I do to support Rainbow Merchants?

• Look for the Rainbow Merchants decal when you are shopping

• Thank the merchant for supporting the objectives of Second Pride and contributing to the LGBT community in Second Life

Here are some of the things Rainbow Merchants do for Second Pride:

• Contribute items to Second Pride events

• Promote Second Pride events at their stores

• Create free items with the Second Pride logo

In return, Second Pride does the following for Rainbow Merchants:

• Provide a decal for the store, to identify the merchant as a contributor to the LGBT community

• List Rainbow Merchants at each of our events and feature them on the Second Pride website.

• Ensure that our current charity (2009/10 Amnesty International) receives a list for acknowledgement.

Is there a cost to becoming a Rainbow Merchant?

• Yes. There is an annual fee of L$500. The money collected from this group is used to support the objectives listed above.

As a merchant, how can I get involved with the Rainbow Merchants group and program?

Please fill out the RAINBOW MERCHANTS SIGN-UP FORM by clicking on the link in the right column. Upon completion of the application kindly visit the Payment Kiosk using the following landmark:

A representative of the Rainbow Merchants group will contact you regarding the specifics of your contribution, and: 

• Ensure that your store and logo are added to our website

• Provide you with a SP decal for your store or stores

• Join you to the Rainbow Merchants hippoGROUP; you do not need an open, in world group slot.
