I think I speak for all the members of the AHCC in saying "thank you" to the membership for entrusting us with such an important task.

I would like to thank ALL the members of the committee for their hard work and the large amount of time devoted to this task.

In trying to come up with a workable and meaningfull set of by-laws for Second Pride our prime goal was to keep it as simple as possible without leaving any holes that would create "pot holes" for a future Committee. I trust we accomplished that goal. We also wanted to provide a document that was straight foward and easy to understand and easy to refer to.

Most importantly , we wanted to create something that gave our leaders the flexability to lead Second Pride effectively, but allow  the membership to be heard load and clear and participate.

We also felt no need to include a separate charter. A charter, by definition is a "granting of authority", it "allows a group to exist with permission from some higher power". We feel that NO ONE has authority over us, or our right to exist.  Article I of the proposed By-Laws, says who we are, what our Mission is, how he intend to accomplish it, and provides a Goal universal to Pride worldwide. We didn't dream up these words...they come from Pride organizations worldwide.....they came from the very heart of where Pride evolved from in 1969 on Christopher Street in New York.

I trust that the membership will look favorably on our work and efforts and eventually see fit to approve these By-laws which will guide us in bridging Pride into the virtual word.

This effort started with the membership offering their ideas and vision for Second Pride during the four open meetings conducted many weeks ago....we heard from many members who offered up many  suggestions and ideas ....it's fitting that it should end here, with the membership offering their critique and suggestions on the finished product.

Feel free to offer your comments, please keep it civil and  professional, Second Pride deserves that........ the members deserve that.

Thanks to all 3 of you, but any link I click ends up asking me for my secondpride.com login and password. You need to make the document public in the Google Docs settings for this to work for everyone.

You have to love this quote from Doc Spad. In other words, if "we" (Doc Spad or anyone on the COMMITTEE) doesn't like what you are saying, you'll be considered uncivil and unprofessional. That's because some are more equal than others.

By the way, what happened to the in-world group announcement from the Committee? I got endless messages soliciting attendance to fundraiser events, but not ONE regarding posting of this proposal. You do remember that silly little Second Pride Festival group in SL? One might think you're trying to push this "under the radar"

P.S. The document link doesn't work!

Gee, Gordon...I think my words speak for themselves....I don't think they require any interpretation from you.

Quite to the contrary... I and the other members of the committee, WELCOME any ideas that the membership might have/ After all, the proposed By-laws are for their use and benefit. Comments and suggestions from the membership are an admission that WE do not have ALL of the answers or ALL the perspectives that such a diverse community, such as Second Pride, might have.

As far as any attempt to "hide" this???

A message was sent out, with a google docs link, to all of the committee members, and the entire membership via secondpride.com, and considering the number of views it has received, it seems like many of our members have had an opportunity to view.  I think it's a great idea to send it out in-world and I will do so. Thanks for the suggestion. I seem to have no problem in seeing the proposed by-laws in any of the links provided above.

Lemonodo,

As long as the URL begins with "https," it is going to require login to the "/googledocs/a/secondpride.com" -- the website is not hosted by google so it is an entirely different system that has nothing to do with whether or not you are signed in as a registered account at this website.

EDITED: Please see the AHCC Public Discussion Forum thread PROPOSED BY-LAWS NEW LINK.

Gordon, our apologies for the links that did not allow you access to the document. Please let me know if the link in this post or the one above do not work for you. As far as I can test it on multiple computers, it appears to be accessible without any kind of login. We were aware of the problem with access and were working on fixing that issue. That is why there was no in world group announcement or email "blast" to user accounts here at the website. Those are forthcoming.

I will be locking this thread to further replies and will post a new thread with the corrected link. This thread will remain viewable.

Peace,

Keo
