Second Pride

I was reading through the Treasurer's reports. He very kindly provided a link to the reports in response to one of my other posts. By the way, his was the first public posting of information since February 2010! 

But, I digress. My concerns regarding lack of public information has to do with keeping the Committee responsible, accountable, and honest in all it's dealings. Especially when we have entrusted it with large amounts of money that can be easily converted into real-world currency. 

While reading the financials, I noticed mention of a previously unknown SL account. It was unknown to me, but it's used to "bank" funds collected from the SP kiosks. So, in SL, I pulled up the SecondPride Core account to do some checking. I was a bit surprised to see an entry for "Gallery Lemonodo Oh" in it's pick list. I TP'd to this gallery and found some beautiful artwork, some of which was selling for L$5,000! Thankfully, I didn't see any other commercial picks mentioning other Committee members. Also, at the gallery, I didn't see a sign anywhere that this was an official Second Pride operation. 

The SecondPride Core avatar was also a member of the "Fermate" group, founded by Lemonodo Oh. For what purpose would there be for this avatar to be a member of the Fermate group?

While I'm sure it's not the most highly-trafficked avatar in SL, I do believe it is highly inappropriate to use an official Second Pride avatar for personal gain. This ties back to my earlier statement about wanting to hold this Committee accountable, demanding publicly available documentation, and making sure the Committee stays honest. Perhaps someone from the Committee could explain and it would be great if it could be someone other than Lemonodo. He's already doing most of the work of responding.

I have also been surprised to find out about "SecondPride Core" when I joined the committee 10 weeks before the Festival as to help with membership.

When I asked Keokipele about it, he replied it was created to be used while the "Second Pride" avatar transfer was taking long to happen between EagleWoman Lightfoot (treasurer before Lemonodo Oh) to the new one.

Since it was decided in 2010 that the founder of the avatar (Shawn Mission) was no longer allowed to be the keeper of the avatar in between committee's, they have been asking LL to transfer the ownership each time there was a change, and apparently this causes some issues.

With the lack of minutes I cannot say myself when why or how it was decided to create this "official" extra avatar, instead of using the original. So just trying to explain about what I know...
